Color choices in artmaking can be overwhelming. Using both structured and playful exercises and non-toxic inks, we'll explore color mixing and the visual effects of specific color combinations. We will also experiment with layering translucent ink color over other color.

Our printing plates will be woodblocks. One advantage of woodblocks is the ability to incorporate subtle woodgrain texture into the design of our prints.

Students may carve abstract shapes or images into their woodblocks or leave their blocks intact, using only stencils to preserve areas of color.

This weekend of experimentation will lead you to new confidence in using color in your artmaking.
