Safe Alternatives in Etching: An Introduction, with Cory Howarth, April 27-28, 2024, 10 - 4

$300.00

Traditional etching techniques for printmaking use upwards of 112 toxic/noxious substances: acids, benzene, turpentine, lacquer, and solvents. We will learn methods of working with nontoxic acrylic materials which produce the same high-quality intaglio prints as traditional methods without risking our health and wellbeing.  Switching approaches allows for increased productivity of superior prints in less time with less cost, while expanding the boundaries of creative image making,

This two day course is for those of you who are interested in trying etching for the first time and for experienced printmakers alike. Cory will review, demonstrate and guide students through the use of new non-toxic acrylic based materials for intaglio printmaking including intaglio specific products from Lascaux, and Z, in addition to acrylic based products that can be purchased from your local hardware store.
